What is an LSS?

A Large-Scale Solar (LSS) project is a renewable energy initiative focused on generating significant amounts of electricity using vast solar farms. These farms harness sunlight through an extensive array of photovoltaic (PV) panels, converting it into clean, sustainable energy.

LSS projects play a crucial role in reducing carbon emissions, supporting energy independence, and promoting environmental sustainability. They are designed to meet large-scale energy demands efficiently and cost-effectively, contributing to a greener future.

Achievement story
the i2 LSS

A successful commissioning despite the challenges of the Covid movement Control Order
Extreme time disruption amidst Covid lock-downs

While the world came to a standstill during the pandemic, we pushed through the uncertainties and challenges with careful strategic planning and deployment. By adhering to strict safety protocols and maintaining seamless operations, we managed to keep the project on track and successfully completed the LSS Masjid Tanah project on time.

Economic assistance during critical times

The project created 200 jobs, providing crucial employment opportunities. This not only supported the local community but also ensured the successful completion of the project despite the pandemic.

On-site efficiency

With social distancing measures in place, our on-site operations were affected. We optimized workflow processes to increase productivity within the workforce, implemented task rotation schedules.

Our dedicated team of experts addressed technical difficulties.
Hilly Terrain

The project site was an undulating hill. A sync between our in-house geotechnical expert (Kumpulan Ikram) and our engineers and contractors enable the grading and levelling to match the required level of optimal sun exposure.

Supply Chain Continuity

Our procurement team was diligent and resourceful in managing supply chain disruptions. Through our network and proactive planning, we successfully filled and replaced the materials and equipment that were unavailable during the movement control order. This enabled us to keep the project on track without delays.

Efficient Engagement and Collaboration

Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, we managed to bring all our stakeholders (i.e.: Contractors, consultants, suppliers & etc.) to work seamlessly together. It was possible through effective project management, stakeholder engagement and risk management ensuring the project was delivered successfully on time and within budget.

Excellent Performance

The covid-era was challenging with restricted access to resources and a highly regulated working environment. We managed to construct and commission the solar power plant which had exceeded its Maximum Annual Allowable Quantity (Maximum Solar Generation) for more than 3 years consecutively. Its stellar performance highlights our dedication and capability in delivering a large-scale solar power plant.

How LSS Masjid Tanah Fuels Our Communities
The Masjid Tanah solar farm plays a crucial role in harnessing renewable energy to power local communities and industries. Solar panels at the site convert sunlight into clean electricity, which is then fed into the national grid for distribution by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB). This energy reaches various destinations, ensuring a seamless process from generation to delivery.

Key highlights of the process include:
  • Solar panels capturing sunlight and converting it into electricity.
  • Clean energy being channeled into the national grid.
  • TNB distributing the electricity to:
    • Homes
    • Businesses
    • Industries
  • Contributing to Malaysia's commitment to a sustainable and green future.
By integrating renewable energy into the grid, the Masjid Tanah solar farm serves as a model of innovation, reducing carbon footprints and supporting a sustainable energy landscape in Malaysia
