Kenzie: We have successfully installed a four-megawatt solar system for Alpine. Our solar design was optimized to maximize solar generation while minimizing power loss across the site. This massive project lasted six months over a large 67 acres footprint. Its execution was quite unique in complexity, because Alpine has a tight workspace which requires precise logistics management, we believe that the critical success factor for this project delivery was communication. So, what we did was we provided our project execution plan ahead of time, which was monitored closely by both parties to ensure proper alignment. Clear communication allowed all parties to stay informed and adapt and adjust to any necessary changes during project implementation. Having an in-house site safety supervisor, we are able to meet all conditions set by Alpine’s robust internal safety requirements such as weekly inspections and designated safety protocols. i2 Energy’s solar solution for Alpine is expected to reduce Alpine’s electricity consumption by up to 30% while supporting their ESG goals.

The challenge
Steel manufacturing is among the most energy-intensive industries in Malaysia, and with electricity tariffs climbing, a producer running around the clock feels every rate change on the bottom line. As the country's largest manufacturer of electric resistance welded (ERW) steel pipes and tubes, Alpine Pipe Manufacturing operates a vast facility where uptime is everything and any disruption to production carries a real cost.
At the same time, customers and regulators are paying closer attention to how heavy industry manages its carbon footprint. Alpine wanted to cut its energy spend and strengthen its sustainability position without slowing a demanding, continuous production environment, so any solar solution had to be engineered around the realities of a working steel plant.
The results
Working through its EPCC model, i2 Energy designed and delivered a 4 MW rooftop solar system for Alpine, engineered around a tight, complex site with zero room for error. The installation was executed to strict safety standards while production continued underneath, with no interruption to Alpine's operations.
